Travel with Ease: Your Guide to Calm Adventures

Travel with Ease: Your Guide to Calm Adventures

While you may love to travel and experience the world, travel anxiety may creep up unexpectedly. It’s usually the build-up of anticipation, but it’s something that not many people like to talk about. Which is understandable, as it can feel like a very personal situation. So this week, I wanted to share a few things I’ve heard work for others to help ease that travel anxiety.

Remember, please consult with your medical professional as needed before using these remedies. This is meant to be an educational article, not medical advice.

EFT/Tapping: This technique has been gaining in popularity to help with any sort of anxiety. It combines physical tapping of body points with affirmations that are said to help calm the nervous system. Have you ever tried this? I would love to hear if it has worked for you!

Deep Breathing: Deep breathing can be done alone or as part of a meditation or yoga practice. Focusing on your breath can help redirect your thoughts to focus on the action of breathing rather than whatever feelings or thoughts you may be experiencing. A moment or two of deep breathing calms me down in almost any situation!

Counting sheep (or anything!): Like deep breathing, the idea is to help focus your thoughts away from whatever might be causing the anxious feelings. I’ve heard people count sheep, count ceiling tiles, and even count the dots on the ceiling tiles.

Holistic remedies: There are a plethora of these available, from essential oils to hard candy to suck on to fidget spinners. If you use an essential oil or other herbal remedy,  it’s important to check with a medical professional to determine what may be the best option for you, as well as if you may need to take any prescriptions temporarily. Your doctor will know best.

Do you have another remedy you love that I haven't mentioned? Feel free to hit reply and share it with us so we can create a list to help you on your next adventure.
